Care that includes the people around you
Service-related injury and trauma affect partners, children, parents and friends as well. This page is for veterans considering contact and for the people who care about them.
If you are a veteran
You do not need to be in crisis to make contact, and you do not need to have decided what you want. Many people start with a single question.
- You choose the language: English or Finnish.
- You choose how much to say, in the first contact and afterwards.
- You can ask what happens to the information you give before you give it.
- You can bring someone with you, or ask for the first contact to be by email only.
If you are a family member or friend
You can contact us for general information at any time. Because of confidentiality, we cannot discuss whether a specific person is our patient, or share their information, without their consent.
- Ask rather than assume: “What would help right now?” is often enough.
- Steadiness over urgency. Trust is built through predictable, small contacts.
- Look after your own wellbeing too, and seek support for yourself if you need it.
- If there is immediate danger, call 112 rather than waiting for us.
Taking the first step
Send an appointment request, email us, or call. An appointment request is a request only — we review it and reply with the next step. Nothing is confirmed until we agree a time with you.
